Michigan plastic surgeon Dr. Kelly is specially trained in trans-umbilical breast augmentation (TUBA), also called “scarless breast enlargement.” TUBA allows for the insertion of breast implants through the navel (belly button) so that there are no scars on the breast. The only scars are on the navel, but these are usually undetectable due to the natural skin folds around the navel.

Scarless Breast Enlargement Procedure Information

An small incision is made in the skin around the navel, and an endoscope, which is a very small lighted camera on the end of a flexible rod, is inserted between the skin and fatty tissue so that Dr. Kelly can observe the procedure on a monitor. Deflated saline implants are rolled up and pushed through the incision to the correct position at the breast. The implants are then filled with a saline solution to the desired volume and adjusted to the exact position. Next the endoscope and saline tube are removed and the incision is closed.

Surgery typically takes only 30 to 45 minutes, and recovery is normally shorter with TUBA than with traditional forms of breast enlargement. The scar (about 1 to 1-1/2 inches long and hidden in the folds of the navel) is unlikely to be noticed by anyone else unless you point it out to them.
